Guseokguseok Live Expands Across Seoul

Seoul is turning everyday spaces into live performance stages in 2026. Through the expanded “Guseokguseok Live” program, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to host nearly 2,000 street performances from April to December. Sidewalks, plazas and riverside parks will no longer be just places to pass through — they will become cultural hotspots filled with music, dance and live art. This large-scale busking project highlights Seoul’s commitment to public culture and creative urban experiences.

Nearly 2,000 Performances, 150 Selected Teams

This year, 657 teams applied to join the program, showing how popular busking culture has become in Korea. After video screenings and live auditions, 150 teams were selected. The lineup includes band performances, instrumental music, traditional Korean arts and stage shows designed specifically for outdoor audiences. The focus is clear: strong live quality and real engagement with people passing by. Seoul is not just offering performances — it is curating meaningful street culture.

올해는 총 657개 팀이 지원해 거리 공연에 대한 높은 관심을 보여주었습니다. 영상 심사와 현장 오디션을 거쳐 최종 150개 팀이 선정되었습니다. 공연 분야는 밴드 음악, 기악 연주, 전통 예술, 야외 무대에 적합한 퍼포먼스 등으로 다양하게 구성되었습니다. 특히 현장 라이브 완성도와 시민과의 소통 능력이 중요한 평가 기준이었습니다. 서울시는 단순히 공연 기회를 제공하는 것이 아니라, 완성도 높은 거리 문화를 기획하고 있습니다.

Core Performance Spots Across the City

Five major locations will serve as core busking destinations: Gwanghwamun Square, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Deoksugung Stonewall Road, Seoul Forest and Yeouido Hangang Park. These iconic spaces are expected to function as permanent street performance hubs. In addition, 15 cultural hubs and 30 neighborhood sites will host rotating performances. This means residents can enjoy live music not only in tourist hotspots but also near their homes. The city itself becomes a living stage.

광화문광장, 동대문디자인플라자, 덕수궁 돌담길, 서울숲, 여의도 한강공원 등 5곳이 핵심 공연 거점으로 운영됩니다. 이 장소들은 상설 거리 공연 명소로 자리매김할 예정입니다. 또한 15개의 문화 거점과 30개의 동네 생활권 공간에서도 순회 공연이 열립니다. 이는 관광 명소뿐 아니라 주거 지역 인근에서도 시민들이 쉽게 공연을 즐길 수 있음을 의미합니다. 도시 전체가 하나의 살아있는 무대로 변하는 셈입니다.

The 2026 Guseokguseok Live program will also connect with large-scale city festivals such as the Seoul Spring Festival and Hangang River cultural events. By linking street performances with seasonal festivals, Seoul aims to create a continuous cultural network throughout the year.
